From $565.00
8 Days & 7 Nights

Camino Invierno - Final Stage

  • Walk the path less trodden on the Camino Invierno or "Winter Way"
  • Montforte de Lemos, an important Galician fortress town
  • Sample delicious local wines in the Ribeira Sacra vineyards
  • Amazing views of the meandering Miño river
  • Landscapes dotted with Romanesque chapels and architecture
Walk the final stage of the Camino Invierno from Monforte de Lemos to Santiago de Compostela, a tranquil route taking in terraced vineyards, ancient villages and beautiful Romanesque chapels. Commonly referred to as the "Winter Way", the Camino Invierno was the route followed by pilgrims in the medieval ages to avoid the mountains of O Cebreiro on the Camino Frances. Nowadays, it offers a wonderful off-the-beaten-path option for pilgrims searching for some solitude. Start in Monforte de Lemos, an important Galician fortress town, and walk through lush landscapes carved out by the rivers Miño and Sil, featuring impressive canyons and terraced vineyards, perhaps stopping to enjoy a glass or two of the wonderful wines produced in this region. Continue through rural Galicia until you reach the revered Santiago de Compostela.
