Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in St. HelenaArrive in St. Helena, the main street of Napa Valley. Settle into your luxurious accommodation before heading out for the evening to explore the lovely downtown area, enjoying dinner at one of the many superb restaurant options.
Southbridge is located just a quick walk from the best of St Helena including over 13 restaurants and 10 wineries, as well as a variety of galleries and boutiques. Your stylish accommodations present king beds with vaulted ceilings, wood-burning fireplaces, and private balconies overlooking the grounds.
A transfer this morning brings you to Bothe-Napa Valley State Park, located in the heart of the Napa Valley wine country. Visit a mountaintop winery estate for a tasting, and then enjoy a relaxed hike through peaceful forests of coastal redwoods and tanoaks. Finish your day with an included tour of a world-famous winery before returning to St. Helena for the evening.

Your transfer this morning brings you to beautiful Sonoma, the heart of the wine-making region of Sonoma Valley and home to California’s oldest winery. Stroll past historic buildings in the colonial-era plaza as you begin your loop walk on the Overlook Trail, taking your time to soak in the expansive views of the area. Settle in to your comfortable boutique hotel, located just steps from shops, art galleries, and wine tastings.
Nestled in the heart of Sonoma’s historic downtown square, El Dorado is just steps from shops, wine tasting, and art galleries. The cozy, elegant guest rooms are designed for comfort, though you may choose to enjoy the heated pool or fireplace lounge in your downtime as well.
Today offers a peaceful walk on the winding trails of Bartholomew Park, leading you through magnificent oak trees and past quiet streams. Take in sweeping views of the area at overlooks along the trail, and, if desired, visit the Bartholomew Park Winery for a tasting.
Nestled in the heart of Sonoma’s historic downtown square, El Dorado is just steps from shops, wine tasting, and art galleries. The cozy, elegant guest rooms are designed for comfort, though you may choose to enjoy the heated pool or fireplace lounge in your downtime as well.
This morning’s short transfer brings you to Glen Ellen, nestled in between Sonoma Mountain and the Mayacamas Mountain range in southern Sonoma. Your loop walk today takes you through the rolling hills of Jack London State Park, where you’ll have plenty of time to visit the many historical buildings as well as the fascinating museum. If desired, a visit to the Benzinger Winery - located just one mile from the end of your walk - is highly recommended. Overnight at your luxurious boutique hotel, complete with an on-site spa, private zen gardens, and a Michelin-rated restaurant.
After breakfast, continue on your onward travels. To add a private transfer to the airport or an alternate nearby destination, speak with your adventure specialist.

Is it for me?This tour is graded as easy to moderate, with daily hikes averaging around 6 miles a day. This tour is perfect for those who want to explore the expanse of Napa Valley and Sonoma by foot and with free time to enjoy wine tastings and to explore the cute towns. Hikers should expect walking along dirt trails and varied terrain. Trails are well-signed, maintained, and traveled frequently. Enjoy staying at charming hotels each night.

Solo Travellers
The minimum age for this tour is: 5 Years
The hiking on this trip is easy to moderate, averaging 5-8 miles per day. Your fourth day of hiking will be the most challenging with about 900 ft / 270 m of elevation gained.Â
The trails used on this trip are well-established, thoroughly waymarked, and highly traveled. However, conditions vary including mud, rocks, and tree roots. You should be accustomed to hiking for several hours at a time and will enjoy your tour much more if you are well-prepared. Some hiking experience is necessary.
One of the highlights of this tour is the high standard of accommodation. You will stay in carefully selected 3-4* small hotels. Your room will always have an ensuite or private bathroom. A delicious breakfast is also included.Â
Twin Rooms
If you would like a room with two separate beds, please let us know, and we will accommodate you wherever possible. However, many of the hotels and inns we use do not have that option. Almost all have king beds; a few offer only queen beds. In most cases, if they do not have rooms with two beds, they can bring in a roll-away bed or a futon for the second person. If you wish you can pay extra for two separate rooms.
Single Rooms
If you require single rooms within your party we will always try and accommodate you subject to availability. A single supplement is payable.
Meals
A hearty breakfast is included each morning. Lunch and dinners are not included so you are free to choose from the surrounding options. Dinner is available either at your accommodation or at nearby restaurants.

We offer this trip year-round and there are plenty of reasons to go to the wine country in each season based on your goals. Please keep in mind this trip can only depart on Sundays.Â
In the winter months of Nov - March the average temperature drops a little, with the average high in the upper 60s Fahrenheit during the day. These are also the rainest months so always check the weather forecast before starting your hike and carry appropriate equipment! The spring months of April - June are lush, green, and the daily average increases a little to the mid to upper 70's. The summer months of June - Sept are the warmest days, with an average high of the low 80s Fahrenheit. September and October see a decrease in summer tourists and the temperatures at this time of year are between the 50s and 60s Fahrenheit, with October tending to be a bit drier and crisper than September.
Availability
This trip is available any time of year but can only start on Sundays. We suggest booking as far in advance as possible for a better chance of securing your desired dates.Â
Depending on where you are traveling from, there are several options to get to St. Helena.
The nearest airports are San Francisco International or Oakland International. Alternatively, there is also Sonoma County Airport which would be the closest but only has regional flights.Â
Public transportation is not available from the airports to the start in St. Helena or from the end in Glen Ellen to the airports. Please let us know if you plan to rent a car. We suggest you engage a transport service, below are some suggestions.

Baggage transfer from St. Helena to Sonoma is included in the cost of your holiday. We ask you to limit your luggage to one bag of up to 22 kg / 50lbs per person.
