The full walk of the Camino Frances, the most popular route, runs almost 800km across Northern Spain from St Jean Pied de Port on the French border to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. [caption id="attachment_22257" align="aligncenter" width="1500"] Walking the West Highland Way.[/caption] Scotland’s original – and still the most walked – long-distance trail, the West Highland Way is a must-do for many walkers. If you have not yet found the time to walk this 96-mile route from just north of Glasgow to Fort William in the Highlands why not plan to very soon? It’s a waymarked trail that takes you through ever-changing scenery with many spectacular mountain ranges to view from the route that mostly heads through glens and valleys. Inca Trail
[caption id="attachment_23243" align="aligncenter" width="1500"] Historically significant Machu Picchu.[/caption] In ancient times, the Incas built a network of some 40,000kms of trails as links to many parts of their vast South American empire, stretching from Quito in Ecuador to Santiago in Chile and east to Mendoza in Argentina. Cusco was at the heart of this empire and almost all of the main trails in the mountains surround this now famous archaeological site. There is a 43km section of mountain trail that is most often hiked via other sites to reach Machu Picchu in Peru. This is the most popular Inca Trail but to access it you need to go with an authorised trekking company. Macs Adventure organises walking holidays to Peru, including The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu; Peru: Machu Picchu, Cusco & Titicaca; The Inca Trail, Machu Picchu & The Sacred Valley; Machu Picchu by Train and an alternative trek via Salkantay to Machu Picchu.
