Across The Isle of Skye
David & Elizabeth from Brisbane Australia, encourage walkers to take a long walk across the Isle of Skye for an energetic five day walk through some spectacular areas. "Days two, three and five were simply stunning with varied terrains and landscapes on each of those days. The optional boat trip to Loch Coruisk on day three is not to be missed. The area is rich in sea and bird life. There is an excellent cafe in Torrin at the conclusion of day two, called The Blue Shed Cafe, where we rewarded ourselves with coffee and cake and relaxed while overlooking the Cuillins. The accommodation, breakfasts & hosts at all locations were very good, however, our night at the Sconser Lodge Hotel was a standout. This was an old hunting lodge that has been turned into a hotel/lodge and was simply superb especially the cooking. If you are looking for peace, free from crowds and enjoy walking, this walk is recommended. We enjoyed good weather and took many photos to remember our holiday on Skye. Well done Macs Adventure!"
West Highland Way
"I made it!!!!!" exclaimed Happy Wanderer from Falkirk. "Not bad for a 55 year old whom celebrated my birthday with a fish supper at the Green Welly in Tyndrum. I went solo for the first 3 days (surprised at how few such kindred spirits there were) before being joined by a mate on Day 4 and my partner for the rest of the way. I am reasonably fit for my age and was never particularly exhausted. However, by the end of Day 3, the difficult section to Inverarnan, I was all for chucking it due to pains in my legs. Fortunately, my mate produced knee braces and Ibuprofen, which were a great help. Every walker should have them, together with Compede, which works well for blisters. Breakfast at Alt-na-Leven in Kinlochleven was enormous, and sublime. Best porridge was that made with cream and honey at the Bridge of Orchy Hotel. And what about the views along the way? Fantastic, and too many to mention. Thanks, Macs Adventure, for everything. You even managed to sort the weather - about an hour of rain all week. You almost managed to sort the midges too, which, in fairness, were not too bad, as long as you keep moving.
Camino de Santiago
"What an experience!" Bronwyn from Australia would recommend this trip to a friend. "Booking my camino through Macs Adventure enabled me to do something I really wanted to do without the hassle of arranging the specifics. From my first contact with Macs via email I felt valued as a prospective client and throughout the process of booking had my questions answered and my needs met. The accommodation was excellent, always very clean and centrally located. In many cases they were able to cater for my specific dietary requirements, which I greatly appreciated. Though I did not book an airport transfer or have my baggage transferred each day, I would suggest others consider these options. If you are used to backpacking then carrying your bag would be fine, but I was not and found this the most uncomfortable and challenging part of each day. As for the walk? Spectacular. You will not be disappointed. Do it and Buen Camino!"
