Feedback Favourites: Discovering solo travel, and making unexpected friends
Feedback WHW Jaycee from glasgowOur favourites from our online reviews this week include Father's Day inspiration (not sure what to get Dad? How about some quality time on a long walk?), and advice on the walker's nemesis: the blister! Discovering Solo Travel Nick the Brave from Montreal tried out solo travelling on the Cumbria Way "I spend five days outdoor...and learned great lessons, met fine people, and ended up quite proud of myself!". Nick booked the Cumbria Way Walking Tour as a way of "being challenged physically and seeing new areas while knowing I could call someone (Macs Adventure) in case of need: this was very important". Why not take a leaf from Nick's book and try solo travel for yourself? It can be a great way to give yourself time to evaluate, space to relax your mind, and walking alone is one of the best ways to meet new people! Feedback Hadrians wallWalking the Hadrian's Wall path with Dad What better way to spend time with Dad around Father's day than a walking tour of the English Countryside. Away from many of the distractions of modern life, many of our reviewers comment on the impact an active trip has on the quality of the time spent with their nearest and dearest. Mart from Gosport walked the Hadrian's Wall Path with his daughter, commenting: "I never had to give a second thought to accommodation or bag transfer, leaving me to concentrate on a fun time with my daughter before she becomes a teenager and wants to do this sort of adventure with friends instead of Dad (smile). We both had a great time, although it was challanging for a 13 year old, she is still Buzzing a week later, as am I" Mart also took this great photograph of the scenery, looking through Hadrian's Wall. FEEDBACK WHW billymclaren"I met a new friend called Compeed" Billybop from Manchester walked the West Highland Way and commented "all in all, I didn't want this trip to end". "The Only part I found exhausting was Inversnaid, coming from Drymen but still had a grin like a Cheshire cat on my face from Milngavie to Fort William. Excellent accommodation start to finish, the food was excellent and well organised, the people I met were fantastic along with the night life in certain spots...I was gutted coming home, but met a new friend called Compeed, like walking on air, take plenty with you." Good advice Billybop. Our destination specialists recommend two pairs of socks, and a tub of vaseline for blister avoidance!
