Ride south toward Tyne Valley, making time along the way for side trips to the MacAusland’s Woollen Mill in Bloomfield, in operation since 1870 and the Potato
Museum in O’Leary (pay for locally if you wish to visit), which depicts the vital role this vegetable has played in the region’s economy over the years. Finish your day in Summerside with a boardwalk stroll at Spinnakers Landing, then explore nearby independent dining options.
Located in the heart of Prince Edward Island's second-largest city, the Driftwood Inn has modern and spacious rooms and a peaceful atmosphere. Enjoy an afternoon in their library with board games and books, or relax in your room equipped with WiFi.
Your ride today begins with a leisurely pedal past the small waterfront shops in Summerside before continuing on along the trail. From Kinkora, if you wish, you can extend your ride to 45km by pedalling down the spur line to view the Confederation Bridge, which boasts the claim as the world’s longest bridge over ice-covered water. You can continue on the trail to Victoria-by-the-Sea (65km), one of the island’s most charming fishing villages, and stop here or continue on to your final destination, Kinkora (95km). Settle in at your accommodation, perhaps choosing to enjoy the luxurious spa.

Retrace your route a short distance to Emerald Junction, and then follow the beautiful Dunk River east through the valley toward Hunter River. A short 15 minute vehicle transfer brings you to North Rustico, where you’ll cycle the coastal path of Prince Edward Island National Park to your accommodation in Cavendish. If you wish you can cycle a total of 51km today if you want to take the longer option.
Enjoy your stay at this family-run Inn located only a 20 minute walk away from the beach, and right next to the Green Gables House. This property boasts 6 acres of quiet, and peaceful land, as well as charming rooms and an included breakfast.
For a more leisurely ride today, begin with a vehicle transfer to Tracadie where you will resume the Confederation Trail. For a longer ride (60km), pedal directly from your accommodation to rejoin the trail. Enjoy one of the most spectacular stretches of the trail today, revelling in a rich diversity of plants and birds along the Hillsborough River, designated as a Canadian Heritage River. If time permits, make a side trip from your destination of St. Peters to Greenwich for a stroll (or swim!) along the sand dune beach.
Only a short walk away from the village of St. Peters, the Inn at St. Peters provides Adirondack chairs for each room's private balcony so you can enjoy the waterfront views. Enjoy dinner in their on-site restaurant with many options of locally sourced, fresh meals.

This tour starts and ends in Charlottetown.
By Car
Prince Edward Island is easily accessible from the neighbouring provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia by bridge or ferry. The Island is connected to the mainland of New Brunswick by the Confederation Bridge (www.confederationbridge.com), making travel throughout the Maritimes easy and convenient. This curved, 12.9 kilometre (8 mile) long bridge is the world's longest bridge crossing ice-covered water and endures as one of Canada’s top engineering achievements. There is a toll to cross the bridge, which is collected only when leaving the Island, at a cost of $45.50 CAD per car, including passengers. Long term parking is available at the Charlottetown Airport and at selected locations in downtown Charlottetown.
If you would like a more leisurely excursion to the Island from Nova Scotia, Northumberland Ferries Limited offers nine daily departure crossings from each side during high season. This 75-minute route runs between Caribou, Nova Scotia (just outside of Pictou), and Wood Islands, PEI. The crossing fee for the ferry is slightly higher than the bridge, at a cost of approx.$70 per vehicle, including passengers. Summertime crossings feature onboard live music entertainment during peak hours, a cafeteria (including Cows ice cream), and an outdoor seating area allowing passengers to enjoy the fresh sea air during the crossing.
By Air
There is something magical about seeing PEI from the air as you arrive by plane at the Charlottetown Airport (YYG). With a bird’s eye view from the airplane, tiled farmers’ fields resemble a patchwork quilt and pristine sandy beaches seem as if they could go on forever. Once you arrive at the airport, you will find it is small in size and will be easy to navigate. Adjacent to the arrivals gate is the Visitor Information Centre, where you can find more information (maps, visitor’s guides, friendly advice) about the Island for any of your pre- or post-adventure needs. Direct flights or connections can be made from Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto.
Baggage transfer is included in the cost of your holiday. We ask you to limit your luggage to one bag of up to 50lbs / 20 kg per person.
Our pre-departure information pack has detailed advice on what to bring. Please be prepared by packing all necessary items, including rain gear, sunscreen, and appropriate cycling clothing, as the weather can vary greatly. If you have any questions, we would be happy to share our tips and advice. Please limit your baggage to 1 bag per person of no more than 50 lbs / 20 kg. Your bag will be transported between your inns.
Bike Rental
Hire of a Trek FX2 Hybrid bike, helmet, lock, waterproof bag, flat repair kit, water bottle cage, and first aid kit are included in the trip cost. Please supply us with your height for your bicycle rental so we can make sure your bike is the perfect fit. E-bikes are also available should you want a little extra assistance to help you along the way. These are subject to availability and require a supplementary payment.
It is a requirement of booking this tour with Macs Adventure that you have suitable travel insurance that covers you for the activity and emergency evacuation and hospital care.
